Meaning of Energy:
Energy is the ability to do work or cause change. This means that energy is involved in every activity and change that happens around us. For example, when you throw a ball, your energy is transferred to the ball, which then moves through the air.Forms of Energy:
Energy comes in many forms. Each type of energy does different things and can change from one form to another. Different types of energy and some examples include:- Mechanical Energy: This is energy from movement or position of objects, and it’s divided into two;
- Kinetic Energy: Energy from moving things. Example: A rolling ball.
- Potential Energy: Energy stored when things are high up or stretched. Example: A ball at the top of a hill (gravitational potential) or a stretched rubber band (elastic potential).
- Chemical Energy: Energy stored in things like food or batteries.
- Heat Energy (Thermal): Energy from the warmth of things. Example: Heat from a fire.
- Light Energy (Radiant): Energy from light that travels, like sunlight.
- Electrical Energy: Energy from electricity that powers our homes.
- Nuclear Energy: Powerful energy from splitting or joining tiny parts of atoms. Example: Energy in power plants.
- Sound Energy: Energy from sounds we hear, like music.
