SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: At the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

  1. Explain environment
  2. Identify and mention various things in the environment
  3. Explore and observe the environment.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS:

  • Pictures or visuals of various elements in the environment (trees, animals, water bodies, buildings, etc.)
  • Flashcards or posters depicting different environmental elements, Maps or globes to showcase the Earth’s features and geographical locations
  • Samples of natural resources like rocks, leaves, or soil
  • Books or printed materials about the environment and its components
  • Audio or video recordings of nature sounds or environmental documentaries.

Teaching Aides:

  1. Magnifying glasses or binoculars for close observation of natural objects or distant elements in the environment.
  2. Microscopes to explore microscopic organisms or examine tiny environmental components.
  3. Field trip arrangements to explore the local environment, such as visiting a park, garden, or nearby natural areas.
  4. Digital devices or interactive whiteboards for multimedia presentations or virtual explorations of different environments.
  5. Recycling bins or examples of recycled materials to emphasize environmental conservation.
  6. Safety equipment for outdoor activities, such as hats, sunscreen, and insect repellent.

What is Environment?

An environment is the surroundings or conditions in which a person, animal, or plant lives or operates. It includes both natural and man-made elements such as trees, animals, water bodies, houses, roads, etc.

Various things found in the environment include plants, animals, rocks, soil, air, water, buildings, vehicles, etc.
