Rationale for the Lesson:

Understanding storytelling helps pupils develop their language skills, enhances their imagination, and helps them understand cultural values and norms through creative expression. Storytelling is a fundamental skill that also aids in social interactions and personal development.

Prerequisite/Previous Knowledge:

Pupils are expected to recall the songs learned in previous lessons which often follow simple narratives or themes.

Story Telling

A story is a way of sharing adventures, experiences, and lessons with others, using words and actions. Some of the key elements in every story include:

• Characters: The people or animals in the story.
• Setting: Where and when the story takes place.
• Plot: The events that make up the story.
• Conflict: The main problem that characters need to solve.
• Resolution: How the problem is solved at the end.

Lesson Evaluation:

To evaluate the learning, the teacher asks pupils to:

1. Name three elements of a story.
2. What is the setting in a story you like?
3. Can you think of a main character from today’s story activity?
4. What was the problem in the story you created in group?
