Performance Objectives:
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:
- Cognitive domain: Identify and describe two heroes and heroines from their state.
- Affective domain: Show appreciation for the contributions of these figures to their state.
- Psychomotor domain: Create simple drawings to represent each hero or heroine discussed.
- Social Domain: Discuss in groups the virtues of these heroes and heroines and how they can emulate these virtues.

Rationale for the Lesson:
Understanding the lives and contributions of local heroes and heroines helps pupils develop a sense of pride and belonging to their community. It also inspires them to think about how they can contribute positively to society.
Prerequisite/Previous Knowledge:
Pupils are expected to remember basic facts about heroes and heroines discussed in the previous lesson.

- Chief Obafemi Awolowo
Chief Awolowo was a very important leader who helped our state and the whole country by making sure that children can go to school for free. - Dr. Nnamdi Azikiwe
Dr. Azikiwe was one of the first Presidents of our country, and he worked very hard to make Nigeria a peaceful place where all people can live happily together. - Queen Amina of Zaria: Queen Amina was a strong and brave queen who lived a long time ago. She was known for being a great warrior and leader. She helped to make her kingdom bigger and protected her people with smart strategies and courage.
- Mary Slessor
Mary Slessor came from far away to help people in our state. She was very kind and worked to stop bad traditions and to save the lives of twins. - Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti
Mrs. Ransome-Kuti was a fearless woman who fought for the rights of women in Nigeria. She wanted to make sure that women could vote, go to school, and have the same opportunities as men.
These heroes and heroines have done important things to help our state and country be a better place. They teach us to be brave, kind, and to work hard for what is right.
To evaluate the learning, the teacher asks pupils to:
- Name one hero we learned about today.
- What did Chief Adebayo do for our state?
- Why is Doctor Amaka considered a heroine?
- Draw a picture of one hero and write one sentence about their contribution.
