NOTE

What is Mass?

Mass is the amount of stuff, or matter, an object is made of. It tells us how heavy or light an object is. For example, a big rock has more mass than a small pebble because it has more stuff inside it.

What is weight? 

Weight is the force that pulls objects towards the Earth. It’s what makes objects feel heavy or light. When you step on a weighing scale, it measures your weight. Objects can weigh differently because of their mass.

Instruments for measuring mass and weight

The following instruments are used to measure mass & weight: Mass balance, beam balance, spring balance, physical balance, electronic weighing machines, etc

Metric unit of mass and weight

10 milligrammes = 1 decigramme

10 decigrammes = 1 centigramme

10 centigrammes = 1 gramme

1000 grammes = 1 kilogramme

1000 Kilogrammes= 1 tonne
