The promise of the Comforter

Promise means a declaration or assurance that one will do something or that a particular thing will happen

Comforter means someone who provides consolation

The promise of Jesus to His disciples

At the event of His ascension into heaven, Jesus told His disciples not to leave Jerusalem until the arrival of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit could not come to the earth unless Jesus left. But when the
