Understanding Drugs

• Definition: Drugs are substances that can change how our body works. They can be natural (from plants) or synthetic (human-made).
• Types of Drugs: There are two types of drugs – synthetic (man-made, like painkillers) and natural (from plants, like herbs).

Difference between Medicine and Hard drugs

• Medicine: Medicine helps us get better when we’re sick. It’s given by doctors. Examples include Pain killers, malaria drugs, supplements, Drugs for cold and cough, etc
• Hard Drugs: These are harmful and can make people sick. They are not given by doctors. Examples include; Cocaine, Heroin, Marijuana, Crystal Meth, Codeine, Tramadol, Indian Hemp, Crack Coke, etc.

Evaluation Questions:

1. Define drugs and give an example.
2. Explain the difference between synthetic and natural drugs with examples.
3. What is the concept of medicine? Provide an example.
4. What are hard drugs, and why are they harmful?
