What Is Water?
Water is a clear, colorless, odorless, and tasteless liquid that forms the seas, lakes, rivers, and rain and is the basis of the fluids of living organisms.
Qualities Of Good Water
- It should be clear and colorless.
- It must be free from harmful chemicals.
- It should have no unpleasant odor or taste.
- It must be free from pathogenic (disease-causing) organisms.
- It should contain essential minerals for health.
Differences Between Water and Other Liquids
- Taste and Smell: Water is tasteless and odorless, while many other liquids like juice or soda have distinct tastes and smells.
- Boiling and Freezing Points: Water has a specific boiling point (100°C) and freezing point (0°C), which can be different from other liquids.
- Chemical Composition: Water is a simple molecule consisting of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom. Other liquids may have more complex chemical structures.
- Solubility: Water is often called the “universal solvent” because many substances dissolve in it. Other liquids may not dissolve substances as well as water does.
