Lesson Content/Note
Jesus gave His life for us as the ultimate sacrifice. His death on the cross was not the end; it paved the way for new life through His resurrection. This new life calls us to live in faith, love, and obedience to God.
The Arrest of Jesus
Jesus was betrayed by one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, and arrested by soldiers in the Garden of Gethsemane. Despite the betrayal and the violence of the soldiers, Jesus willingly allowed Himself to be taken because it was part of God’s plan to save humanity. This event is recorded in Matthew 26:47–54.
The Trials and Suffering of Jesus
After His arrest, Jesus was taken to face trials before the religious leaders, Herod, and Pilate. He was falsely accused and mocked during these trials. Despite being innocent, He was sentenced to death. His suffering included being whipped, carrying a heavy cross to Golgotha, and enduring great pain as He was nailed to the cross. Finally, He was crucified and left to die in great agony. This shows the depth of His love and sacrifice for humanity. (Luke 23:1–13)
The Death of Jesus on the Cross
Jesus’ crucifixion marked the fulfillment of God’s plan for the salvation of mankind. He endured immense suffering and ultimately gave up His life on the cross for our sins. His death was a demonstration of God’s love for humanity and a pathway for reconciliation with God. The event is recorded in Luke 23:44–49.
New Life Through Jesus’ Resurrection
New life in Christ means living in faith, love, and obedience to God. This new life became possible through the resurrection of Jesus from the dead. The resurrection signifies victory over sin and death, offering hope to all who believe. Evidence of this new life includes:
