The CPU (Central Processing Unit) is the main chip within the system unit that processes instructions from programs, while the system unit refers to the case that contains the CPU along with other components.

Functions of System Unit

It serves to physically support and hold all internal components, provides a controlled environment for the operation of the CPU, and includes interfaces for external devices.

General Uses of a System Unit

  1. Processing Data: Executes computing tasks and processes instructions from various applications.
  2. Storing Data: Provides a secure place for storing digital data such as documents, photos, videos, and software.
