Meaning of Citizenship

Citizenship is the legal membership of a person in a country. A citizen enjoys certain rights and has responsibilities to the country.

Modes of Acquiring Citizenship in Nigeria

By Birth: Being born in Nigeria to Nigerian parents.
By Descent: Being born to Nigerian parents even if outside Nigeria.
By Registration: Applying to be a citizen, usually for spouses of Nigerians.
By Naturalization: Foreigners living in Nigeria for a long time can apply.
By Marriage: Marrying a Nigerian citizen.

Lesson Evaluation
