Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (1976–1979, 1999–2007)

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was born on March 5, 1937, in Abeokuta, Ogun State. He attended Baptist Boys’ High School and later joined the Nigerian Army.

Civilian Presidency:
In 1999, he became Nigeria’s civilian president. During his time, he improved the economy, supported farmers, and established more schools. He also worked on reducing Nigeria’s foreign debt and promoting peace in Africa.

Contributions to the country’s development.

• Led Nigeria as a military head of state and later as a civilian president.
• Promoted agricultural reforms and improved education infrastructure.
• Initiated the National Economic Empowerment Development Strategy (NEEDS).

Mallam Umaru Musa Yar’adua (2007–2010):

Mallam Umaru Musa Yar’adua was the 13th President of Nigeria, serving from 2007 until his death in 2010. Born on August 16, 1951, in Katsina State, Nigeria.He was well-educated, earning a degree in Education and a Master’s degree in Public Administration.

Political Career:

Before becoming president, he served as the governor of Katsina State from 1999 to 2007.As governor, he focused on improving education, healthcare, and infrastructure.

Presidency:

He became Nigeria’s president in 2007 after winning the election.His leadership focused on tackling corruption and improving Nigeria’s economy.He introduced the National Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (NEEDS), similar to Obasanjo’s approach.

Contributions to the country’s development.

• Championed the Niger Delta amnesty program, promoting peace.
